Camping is a popular way how to spend your holidays and moments of relaxation. You can sleep in a tent or a caravan or wherever you like. But even in a beautiful, even the wildest nature we all must eat. And exactly in this situations, small, compact and portable camping fridges can help us to keep the food fresh and tasty for a long time.
There are three main types of these devices: compressor, absorption and thermoelectric. All three seem to be almost the same, but they work pretty differently. See below...
- Compressor (2-way) fridge: This one works like your home fridge. It simply pumps the working fluid to take away the heat. It can be powered just by electricity (in a car or at home).
- Absorption (3-way) fridge: This type uses a source of heat to run the cooling circuit. You can use electricity of course and moreover a gas.
- Thermoelectric (Peltier) fridge: And the last one produces cold temperatures electronically, so it's very reliable, but the cooling effect isn't so good.
The best are in our opinion the 3-way camping fridges, because of their low weight, good cooling effect and ability to run on gas. They aren't also so heavy and, what is important, so expensive. We think you don't have to pay a fortune for such a useful, but quite simple thing.

There are not many companies, which produce compact and cheap camping fridges, but some of the best are certainly Waeco, Dometic (Electrolux) or Engel. You can't make a mistake with any of these.
